Brevak Takes to Daytona; Loose Lug Ends Day Early
(Daytona, FL) – Brent Brevak made his first ARCA start of the 2011 season by making his first-ever start at the high-banks of Daytona.
Second generation driver Brent Brevak and the No. 3 Ford returned to the track at Daytona International Speedway for theLucas Oil Slick Mist 200. Brevak started his first super-speedway event when the ARCA Racing Series returned to Daytona in February 2011. The team spent two days testing at the 2.5-mile tri-oval making improvements each run. Brevak finished the second day of testing in the 16th position with a best time of 183.816.
“I’m very excited to be here,” commented Brevak. “To grow up watching my dad run laps around this place and now be here to run myself is pretty cool. I’ve raced at Michigan, Rockingham and Kentucky and tested at Talladega, but nothing compares to Daytona. I had a chance to draft a little yesterday and will again this afternoon. Although we need to find a little more speed running alone, the car feels great and is very stable in the draft. I’m definitely looking forward to it. “
Brent Brevak, 22, from Ashland, WI, is graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire with a major in broadcast journalism. Brevak is the son of 1990 ARCA champion Bob Brevak.
Brevak, sporting a similar scheme that his father used to win the ARCA championship in 1990, had his day come to and end midway through the event. A loose lug nut on the right front forced a bad vibration, sending Brevak behind pit wall and an early end to an otherwise exhilarating experience.
Brevak finished finished 38th. Brevak Racing will look to run several events on the ARCA circuit in 2011.
